Child Care Options for Orlando VacationersKurt Schrader, OrlandoTravel.com For those adults wanting a night out to themselves there are many options available to the Orlando vacationer. When obtaining childcare service, be sure to check the credentials of anyone offering care. An excellent source for finding certified childcare provided at your hotel is to check with the hotel's concierge. For those staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, several options are available. The first are Disney's Children's Activity Centers. These drop-in centers are available at the Deluxe Disney Hotels and are available to any guest staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. These individually themed clubs open in the late afternoon and close generally around midnight. Dinner, games, snacks, movies and other activities are provided, as is a rest area for those kids staying later in the evening. Special kids programs are also available at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa including "Grand Adventures in Cooking," "Wonderland Tea Party," and "Disney's Pirate Adventure." Children must be between the ages of 4-12 and be potty trained to use the Centers. Reservations can (and should) be made by calling (407) WDW-DINE. In-room sitting is also available at Walt Disney World hotels. Disney presently contracts with Kid's Night Out to provide in-room babysitting service to Disney Guests. Kid's Night Out services are also available at many other hotels in the Orlando area. Services are offered for children from ages 6 weeks through 18 years old including services for children with special needs. Caregivers will bring age-appropriate toys, activities, books, games and arts & crafts with them. Rates start at $14.00 per hour for in-room care. Kid's Night Out also offers a mother's/father's helper service where their caregivers can accompany a family to the park or other outings to assist with childcare. (author's note: We have had wonderful experience with Kid's Night Out in the past). Kid's Night Out also operates Children's Activity Centers at the Loews Hotels in Universal Orlando Resort (Hard Rock Hotel, Portofino Bay Hotel and Royal Pacific Resort) and at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort. These clubs include meal service, games, activities and movies for toilet-trained children aged 4-14. Numerous other Orlando resorts have notable child care centers including: Ritz
